Internet sites could be given 'cinema-style age ratings', Culture Secretarys Burnham says

"In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Andy Burnham says he believes that new standards of decency need to be applied to the web. He is planning to negotiate with Barack Obama’s incoming American administration to draw up new international rules for English language websites.

The Cabinet minister describes the internet as “quite a dangerous place” and says he wants internet-service providers (ISPs) to offer parents “child-safe” web services.

Giving film-style ratings to individual websites is one of the options being considered, he confirms. When asked directly whether age ratings could be introduced, Mr Burnham replies: “Yes, that would be an option. This is an area that is really now coming into full focus.”

ISPs, such as BT, Tiscali, AOL or Sky could also be forced to offer internet services where the only websites accessible are those deemed suitable for children. "

WHAT!! When did we become a fascist state and loose the right for free speech and freedom of information , have I missed something while I've had my head down slogging away to make a living?

It's a real fine line we walk as a democracy. If the government step to far over that line there is only one way to go, and that's a fascist state! We didn't fight the Nazi's in WWII just to have another lot take control now!!

It's down to parents to control what their children view on the internet - there are plenty of parental tools available to do this at present, obviously Burnham is not computer literate and needs some lessons, and quickly at that.

The internet is not the government personal domain. The whole idea of the internet is freedom of speech and information so every single person on the planet can get unbiased information that is NOT controlled or censored by any one body, government or power. The internet is a fantastic place where all sorts of people from different backgrounds, cultures and countries can communicate and work together and no country, government or power should be allowed to interfere or change that.

As a Nation, us Brit's are not normally known for jumping up and down when stupid government policies and laws come in to affect (we SHOULD, but we don't) - but this time I think Burham will find it a different kettle of fish, mark my words well!

When is the next general election - this labour government has got to go before they screw anything else up! Reading the comments on the Telegraph website, I'd say you've just made it a one horse race Burnham! I've not see one comment to support you stupid idea. How the hell do these crackpots get to be in such positions of power!

I wasn't going to cover politics on my blog, but this article in The Daily Telegraph just made me mad enough to cover it!

IRONMAN THE MOVIE; has sequal written all over it

THE PLOT:

His captors want him to assemble a missile for them, but instead he creates an armored suit to escape with. Back in the US he announces that his company will cease making weapons and he begins work on an updated armored suit only to find that Obadiah Stane (Jeff bridges), his second in command at Stark industries has been selling Stark weapons to the baddies. He uses his new IRONMAN suit to destroy the arms and then to stop Stane from misusing his research.

REVIEW:
Even though I'm a bit of a sci-fi addict I wasn't sure what to expect form IRONMAN. Sometimes comic book heros aren't always done that well by the time studies have hacked the them around, but I shouldn't have worried, IRONMAN was an absolutely masterpiece.

The action was an adrenaline ride, but kept a sense of realism. What really blew me away was the amazing special effects and CGI which all gelled together perfectly.

Robert Downey Jr. delivered the goods with a wonderful balance of intelligence and humor, and it's been quite a while since I've seen him this on form.

This is without doubt one of my top films, almost equaling The Dark Knight for watchability and entertainment.

I look forward to IRONMAN II, as this film has sequal written all over it.

The Dark Knight, Christian Bale rules as Batman

I downloaded The Dark Knight from iTunes, plugged my iPod Touch into my 42 inch HDTV and watched it last night. I just love the way I can buy or rent a movie in iTunes, watch in on my Mac, sync it to my Touch and iPhone and watch it on my TV, it's well cool!! The quality of iTunes movies is obviously not HD or Blue-Ray quality, but as good as any DVD will be on an HDTV , even when played from your iPhone/touch. I used to buy DVD's and rip them to iTunes for playing on my iphone and touch, but you just can't get the same quality that iTunes gives you in a download that will fit on the iPhone/Touch. When you rip them yourself they end up at 640 pixels wide, only good for viewing on the device, where as the iTunes movies are full sized and are good enough to viewed on a HDTV.

Batman - The Dark Knight

Christian Bale as Batman
Christian Bale playing Bruce Wayne

WOW what a good movie. Christian Bale has really made Batman his own. He's by far the best Batman to date - he is Batman. I enjoyed his first outing as Batman, and The Dark Knight is every bit as good, if not better. The acting was superb. He has bought a more realistic feel to what a superhero is or could be. I've never believed in heros being goodie too-shoes; heros need to have a slight ruthless edge to them, almost just one step away from being the baddy. Christian Bale has that dark quality to him and I've always thought he was an underrated actor.

Heath Ledger was excellent; his portrayal of the Joker was utterly believable as a psychotic lunatic hell bent on causing chaos. I'd go as far as saying, this was Heath Ledger's fines performance and counter balanced Christian Bale's Batman very well.

The CGI in The Dark Knight was amazing. Harvey Dent's (Aaron Echart) face was absolutely amazing. The detail was so realistic and just shows how far film making has come in the last few years.

If you've not seen it yet you've mist one of the best movie I've seen this year - if you've never tried downloading a movie form iTunes and playing from your Touch or iPhone you should, it will change the way you buy movie forever. I just love clever technology that's simple to use and work - Apple have got it spot on.

iPhone Nano rumor

I'm a big fan of the iPhone - it's an amazing bit of kit and I can't see us using anything else for our mobiles at studio808.

I saw this on Gizmode (click here) about rumors of an iPhone Nano that Apple could be launching next year.

"No Steve, you got it wrong, I didn't say smaller iPhone, I said all I want is a 32Gb iPhone with better camera and micro SD card slot exactly same size as is."

My cat is a really strange little chap

My cat is a really strange little chap (he is the ginger on the left of the picture below). He hates all other cats, even this friendly female that comes to visit him. Just look at his face and posture , it says it all!

Hello world

Well I uploading my blog with a new template today so it can cover all sorts of things rather than just dive trips (which I struggle to post about).

My intention is to try post stuff of interest, but hey as we are really busy at studio808 doing clients work, I always seem to struggle. My New Years resolution is to post on my blog....mmmm, well that's the plan anyway.
